Museum d'Histoire Naturelle

by Benoit Paillé

‘‘ The natural history museum under construction. A charming carpenter and his pet in the future toilets, where the pipes have created a science-fiction film decor. ”

The Artist

Aged 26, this young Canadian photographer studied medical biology for 3 years before turning to the arts. He is now a renowned, self-taught photographer, whose work has been published several times around the world. He has taken part in many exhibitions in Canada, Japan, the US, Barcelona, Moscow and Paris. His projects are all people-oriented and based on portraits and night-time themes.

Museum d'Histoire Naturelle

Focusing on the cultures and natural areas of Europe and the Mediterranean, Marseille's "Museum d'Histoire Naturelle" (Natural History Museum), renovated in 2013, is an exceptional showcase of naturalist and heritage treasures, reflecting political, economic and scientific life in the 19th and 20th centuries.

This resolutely forward-looking museum also tackles sustainable development issues through major permanent and regular temporary exhibitions offering an eco-citizen's approach to biodiversity.
