Le Riad
Aix-en-Provence - Food guide restaurant
This Moroccan restaurant is in the historic centre of Aix-en-Provence, between the Town Hall and the Rotonde fountain, near Cours Mirabeau. It is inside the former Cordeliers Abbey, a listed historical monument, which adds its charm to the already refined, discreet oriental decor.
In summer, eat on the lovely terrace in the shade of one of the Berber tents or under the magnificent lime tree which has stood there for more than 100 years.
The food on your plate is in keeping with the beauty of the place. Moroccan flavours are used to best effect, and the choice of couscous, tagines, mechouis, pastillas, and a thousand and one pastries recalls the magnificent mosaic of flavours from the Sharifs' kingdom. La Mosaïque tea room is open every day from 9am to 7pm.
