Marseille and the 'Calanques' Fjords

In 2012, the 'Calanques de Marseille' and their surrounding environment became a National Park – the 10th in France! Running over 20 km along Mediterranean shores between land and sea, the 'Calanques' attract many visitors and offer truly breathtaking vistas.

The 'Calanques de Marseille' fjords are criss-crossed with a plethora of footpaths. The challenging GR 98 long-distance footpath linking Marseille and Cassis winds its way through all of the beautiful 'Calanques'. Families or less sporty visitors can opt for a casual walk to 'Calanque de Sugiton', leading directly down to the water's edge. Rock-climbing fans will appreciate the many official climbing routes dotted around the Massif. If you'd rather see the 'Calanques' from the sea, climb aboard in Marseille or Cassis for an unforgettable boat tour!
