Chambremont

Arles - Mountains

The border between Saint-Martin-de-Crau and the former marshes of leases, Chambremont is a string of the Alpilles massif. The Alpilles are located to the Northwest of the Department, in the Rhone corridor alignment. The Alpilles are a link to the terrain, oriented East-West. One can distinguish the main chain of the chain of the Chambremont but which, even if it is not directly adjacent, presents characteristics similar to those of the main chain.Massif located in the climate zone of the lower Rhone, the orientation of its relief particularly exposes it to the regime of mistral, can blow violently on its North side. Precipitation is between 600 and 700 mm/yr and average temperatures ranging 12.5-14.5 ° C according to the slope. The Alpilles massif lies at the interface of small natural regions of the Alpilles and the plain of Crau, defined by the NFI. It is characterized by a low afforestation rate its predominant species are the Aleppo Pine and Holm oak.The Alpilles massif is fully included in the Regional Natural Park of the same name, created February 1, 2007. Its territory is characterized by recognized landscape qualities, benefiting from the 1st Directive landscape of France, since January 2007. There are more than a hundred of rare or protected species many of which have an international protection status, such as the Bonelli's Eagle, or the OWL Grand Duke. Are finally identified more than 60 monuments classified, and almost all registered in the inventory of historical monuments.Urbanisation on the outskirts of the massif, or even at the breast of the massif is relatively large, marked in particular by the extension of peri-urban zones and the urban social demand on woodlands growing pressure. Its numerous points of entry encourage an important attendance of this massif, which is typically tourist: it is characterized by a high proportion of people remaining that shortly in the massif (1 to 2 hours). They practise primarily family-type (picnic, stroll.) or sports activities (hiking, jogging, biking...).
