In the heart of the Alpilles, the monumental Carrières de Lumières present unique multimedia displays. Every year, a great original show presents the greatest names in Art History. These shows are projected onto the huge 14-metre high walls, the pillars and the floors of the quarry and musically transport visitors into multi-coloured worlds.
A new Carrières light show reveals the unique and original nature of this site and displays its mineral beauty.
A unique multimedia event in France: the Carrières de Lumières uses new, cutting-edge processes and equipment: the largest fixed multimedia installation in France, with 70 video projectors and 70 servers for projecting images onto a surface area of more than 600 m2. Spectators are
totally immersed in the images projected onto all the stone surfaces. The number of video projectors has been doubled, in order to cover twice as many walls. As for the ground, it is completely covered and becomes a vast carpet of images. 2012 programme: Gauguin, Van Gogh, Colour Painters (from 30/3/12 to 6/1/13); 2013: The Painters of the Mediterranean.
