Le centre ancien comprend un ensemble remarquable de façades ornées (fin 18e- début 19e siècles) en particulier sur le cours Camille Pelletan.
Plusieurs façades sont datées du règne de Louis XV (style Rocaille provençal) en particulier le n°34, à décor de mascarons l'hôtel au n°29 présente une façade à trois niveaux, scandés de panneaux sculptés de feuilles de chênes et d'oliviers, les fenêtres encadrées de crosses de fougères. Au n° 36, la façade d'inspiration néo-classique est ornée de pilastres collosaux cannelés unifiant les deux niveaux supérieurs d'une seule envolée.
Ce parti néo-classique sera repris à la Restauration (début 19e siècle), en plus emphatie et rigoureux avec épaississement des pilastres et augmentation du décor et de l'entablement, en particulier sur les hôtels place de la Fontaine d'Or et rue du Four. Le luxe de ces belles demeures de la bourgeoisie foncière locale, qui puise ses revenus dans la culture du mûrier et de l'olivier, dénote un sens du décor urbain, qui détonne dans un milieu rural et semble avoir été l'oeuvre d'architectes avignonnais ou aixois.
