Crèche géante

Châteaurenard - Museum

It took several years, an incalculable number of hours' work, a great deal of patience, meticulousness, precision and above all an unconditional love of Provence to create this magnificent Provençal nativity scene. It is more than a nativity scene, it is a summary of the heritage of the most aromatic region in France, the region of Etienne Gaillardet, the creator of this magical place located in La Crau de Châteaurenard (13).
Etienne has been passionate about nativity scenes since the age of 7 and eagerly awaits the Christmas period. Every year, it is Etienne who is responsible for installing and assembling the nativity scene around the Christmas tree. When he reached retirement age, after more than 40 years' good and loyal service as a farmer, he decided to construct one of the most beautiful Provençal nativity scenes in our region, over 65 m2, in the former cold-room of the Mas and in the shed.
