Situated in an intimate private mansion full of 19th century charm, the home of the Aix en Provence Academy of Sciences, Agriculture, Art and Literature, the museum has one of the largest collections of 18th century Provencal earthenware from Moustiers, Marseille, Apt, Avignon, Varages...and numerous paintings and sculptures (works by Rambot and Chastel), paintings and manuscripts displayed in a very well-stocked library holding more than 1600 manuscripts and books, collected for the importance of their bindings, decoration or text, often in the Provencal language, several private collections including the Mirabeau family collection and the collections of local scholars, and an iconographic collection of particular local interest.
