Galerie Marina

Cassis - Craftsman

Specialising in the Provençal School from the 19th and early 20th century, Bruno Sighieri has been selecting and exhibiting a wide choice of paintings for nearly 30 years in his Galerie Marina which gives on to the harbour. //Cassis-born, he likes to show and share his finds, reminding us that most of these artists have depicted Cassis for the beauty of its landscapes and its exceptional light. So, well worth taking a look at, works by: Antoine Ferrari, Raphaël Ponson, Jean Baptiste Olive, Joseph Garibaldi, Auguste Chabaud, Mathieu Verdilhan, René Seyssaud, Pierre Ambrogiani, Jean Guindon, Marcel Leprin, Vincent Courdouan, Horace Richebé and many other important signatures from our artistic heritage.

Lights, Camera, Action! Provence and the Movies

The history of cinema in Provence dates back many years. And similarly to the region's artistic hall of fame, it was inspired by light...

As you may know, the very first moving picture was screened by the Lumière brothers ('Lumière' meaning 'light') on September 21st, 1895 in La Ciotat.

Francis lived happily close beside his tree...

Picked ripe from the tree, figs are simply to die for. They can also be scattered on trays and left to dry in the sun for 3 days: "That's the best way to keep your figs all winter – we serve figs at Christmas as one of Provence's famous 13 Desserts," smiles Jacqueline Honoré.
