Confiserie Léonard Parli
Aix-en-Provence - Craftsman / producer
The Maison PARLI was founded in 1874. It is now a reference in top-of-the-range sweets, not only for Calisson d'Aix sweets, but also for candied fruit, nougat, pralines, biscotins and chocolates.
The secret of our delicious and uniquely tender Calissons results from traditional skills and high-quality ingredients.
Along with all its tasty confectionary, the Aix-based company has an elegant, traditional shop in the town centre, a real life-size "sweet box". The shop has been listed in the town's architectural heritage for over a century.
In his quest for a modern design in the late 19th century, Léonard Parli aimed to pay homage both to his native Switzerland and to Provence. He decided that the building should have "an attractive design and surprise people with its originality".
On the building pediment, the words "La Grande Fabrique de Calissons" ("The Great Calisson Factory") are engraved in stone, alongside a coat of arms with the Swiss Cross, edged with oak and olive branches, representing the Swiss canton of Grisons and Provence.
Today, you can buy Léonard PARLI products in four shops in Aix-en-Provence.
Aix town centre: 35 Avenue Victor Hugo. La Grande Fabrique: Milles Business Cluster. Aix Cathedral: 15 Rue Gaston de Saporta. Aix-Le Tholonet: Palette
The historic Léonard Parli sweet shop in the town centre is close by La Rotonde and Cours Mirabeau

The Maison PARLI has the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (Living Heritage Company) label.
The "EPV" label is a sign of official recognition for French companies with traditional and high-level manufacturing skills.
Go to the heart of the sweet-making process during a guided visit.
A visit to the New Léonard Parli Factory is a chance to meet the women and men who are continuing the PARLI skills and traditions.
You can see and understand the pride they all share in helping maintain this gastronomic heritage in Aix through their precise techniques and the use of traditional machines.
Guided visits to the Factory (minimum 6 people, reservation required) from Monday to Thursday.
(Fee for visit deducted from purchases in the shop)
