L'Orchestre Philharmonique du Pays d'Aix nous entraîne dans un voyage de l'Oural à l'Italie, rêvé par deux des plus illustres compositeurs russes. La Symphonie n°2 de Borodine, chef-d'oeuvre méconnu du chantre de l'âme russe, a été composée en même temps que Le Prince Igor. Elle emploie d'ailleurs de nombreux éléments à l'opéra, lui conférant une remarquable puissance épique et héroïque.
Autres influences pour Tchaïkovski : une Italie rêvée pour son Capriccio italien, plein de charme, rempli de la folie du carnaval de Rome, de mélodies populaires et de danses. De la tarentelle et du soleil italiens, Jacques Chalmeau nous entraînera dans les valses du Lac des cygnes, diaphanes, oniriques et nordiques. Un panorama envoûtant de la musique russe !
