Shopping in Cours Julien, Marseille by So Girly Blog

A delightful mix of street art and designer shops, you just can’t miss a visit to the Cours Julien! Workshops, boutiques and designer collectives blend into the arty confusion of this neighbourhood with its walls covered in street art. Drift through the Cours, discover its streets and fill yourself with Marseille culture, paintings, music and jewellery and don’t forget to stop for a snack!

Essential La Ciotat – the cradle of cinema

For your one-day tour of La Ciotat, you can relax on the Grande Plage or the beach at Figuerolles, a popular spot for locals that you can't leave without seeing. Cinema lovers should head to the Eden Théâtre, famous for screening one of the first films produced by the Lumière brothers. The birth of film is also honoured at the Musée Ciotaden, a museum that retraces the town's history and the traditions of Provence. After an excellent lunch at Le Vin 7, potter around the shops at the Old Port. Later, make your way to the Ile Verte and Parc du Mugel for stunning views. Just don't forget your camera!

Aubagne, in Pagnol country

Pottery and santons aside, Aubagne is also the birth place of French author and film director Marcel Pagnol. Get better acquainted with the cinematic legend by following the Marcel Pagnol 'from Aubagne to La Treille' guided tour or the 'Childhood memories' walking tour. You can also visit the house on Cours Barthélémy where Pagnol was born. And last but not least, the Petit Monde de Marcel Pagnol has recreated cult scenes from his films and novels, from the iconic card game in 'César et Panisse' to the beautiful 'Manon des Sources'.
