Noël aux baux de provence

Les Baux de Provence - Christmas in Provence, Provençal Christmas - In December, January - Dates and program to be confirmed - Free

The famous village of les Baux-de-Provence on Saturday, December 21 to Sunday, January 4 Christmas, traditions and customs. As every year, the children meet the sheepfold of Christmas, installed in a nursery setting, the church square. The young shepherds, assisted by their dogs, will lead each morning their cattle through the streets of the city. This is the fabulous adventure experienced by another Shepherd, Tristet, that will discover the children by pushing the door of the Hotel of Manville. Author-illustrator Jean-Marc Rossi exposes his tale "A star in les Baux-de-Provence" or the beautiful story of the shepherd boy occurred one night winter in the Alpilles. The little people of Provence comes to life, to the tank, also under the pen and palette of Jean-Marc Rossi. Young and old can drop into the crib, animals or characters that they themselves have molded in the workshop of the santons in the gallery the Cure. Children will also find the giant creche installed in the chapel of the Penitents. This year, the sea ice and ice shelter serve as decor for a polar Nativity. For more than four centuries, the baussencs shepherds celebrate ceremonies that they have put in place around the Nativity. On 24 December, takes place the ceremony of the aubade: shepherds, drummers, inhabitants of Arles and Mireilles parade through the streets of the city. This Christmas Eve, the beautiful church of Saint Vincent welcomes the midnight mass, the living Nativity and the pastrage ceremony. In the garden of the island Post Tenebras Lux, José Nicolas photos trace the preparations of these Noëls Baussencs which continues thanks to the inhabitants of the city.
