En cette période de Festival, Aix accueille les plus belles musiques venues d'ailleurs. Mais Aix-la-Baroque fut également capitale musicale, siège de l'une des grandes maîtrises du Royaume de France. A l'initiative de la renaissance de ce patrimoine provençal, les Festes d'Orphée invitent le visiteur, le festivalier, à découvrir des répertoires enchanteurs, dans l'un des plus beaux lieux de la ville, au frais, dans une chapelle aixoise du XVIIe, découvrez le patrimoine musical de la Provence historique.

Le 8 juillet à 16h, conférence illustrée : Aix : Une ville, un patrimoine musical par Guy Laurent, directeur des Festes d'Orphée. Guy Laurent évoque le patrimoine musical de la Provence baroque et plus particulièrement les compositeurs au programme de ce festival, en les resituant dans leur contexte historique. Gratuite et accessible à tous, cette présentation est un véritable prélude au Festival.

Le 8 à 18h, concert : Grands motets festifs par le Grand-choeur et Ensemble Instrumental des Festes d'Orphée avec le Grand-choeur et l'Ensemble Instrumental : Jean-Michel Hey, Guy Laurent (flûtes) / Annick Lassalle (viole de gambe) / Corinne Bétirac (clavecin et orgue) avec au programme :
