September Art History Conference "Knight Peter II Mignard"
Châteaurenard - Peinture - In September - Dates and program to be confirmed - Free
Knight Peter II MignardThe son of Nicolas "Mignard d'Avignon" and nephew of his namesake Pierre "Mignard the Roman", the knight Mignard (Avignon, j 1640-1725) was a painter like his parents, but also an architect, engineer and decorator. This communication will recall his career, which took him to Paris as well as Italy, but took place mainly in Avignon and Provence, where he ensured the transition from a very Italianate taste to French classicism. Some well-known works, such as the abbey of Montmajour or private hotels, will be presented, but also many new ones. Finally, it will not forget that Châteaurenard is one of the few towns in the region to own works by two generations of Mignard.Conference in pictures by: Alain Breton, curator of antiques and art objects of the department of Vaucluse.
