Soleil chaud, soleil tardif
The collective exhibition of the year 2017 brings together a selection of works by contemporary and historical artists who highlight our designs of simplicity-oriented lifestyles. Playing the card of free associations, "The simple life - simply life" draws from the fantasies and nostalgic impulses called by its very title. This simple life takes its original Van Gogh in his first experiences as a pastor and the Borinage, the Walloon mining area. The ideal of life is also expressed in his unwavering admiration for the art and the person of Jean-François Millet, painter of French peasant life of the 19th century. If the two historical anchorages offer Millet and Van Gogh are a basis for exposure, they also allow to discuss the topic with cheerfulness. The image of the translation in movements and colors of the peasant scenes of Millet by Van Gogh, the majority of the collected works continues the wish of the Dutch painter: "to show that we can be simple with something else of gray, white, black and" brun1 "."Designed specifically for the exhibition or low exposure in France, the works of 'The simple life' - simply life evoke the different aspects of the term of "simplicity", such, for example, life forms and the report of man with nature and the esp ECE animal. The contributions of contemporary artists also to deconstruct the myth of a lifestyle oriented appeasement and pure. The animated film The Pure Necessity (the Pure need, 2016) of David Claerbout is an amazing adaptation of the the jungle book produced by Disney in 1967. The installation of Pawel Althamer creates conditions for a friendly between visitors and animals at feathers while the film O Peixe (The Fish, 2016) of Jonathas de Andrade, filmed in Brazil, called ambiguous feelings about the death of an animal. The series of photographs Iris Tingitana (2007, latin name of the native iris of Tangier) Yto Barrada us returns, with the flower very present in the iconography of Van Gogh, "Botany of power" while the xylographs of Andrea Büttner seem to be an anthem to humility. It is through a selection of santons of the 18th and 19th centuries that are questioned objects of popular piety and the representation of the "small trades" that can be found in the paintings of Van Gogh.
